The Problem with Cold Calling

Is cold calling effective?

It's true that cold calling can work. Yet in most cases it is not very effective and it breaks the Silver Rule in marketing that states: "It is better for them to come to you, rather than for you to go to them."

Let's face it, you and I both want to deal with successful businesses, not those who appear desperate and need the work, right? The mere fact that you are having to call around for clients gives the message that you are not very busy! Otherwise you would not have the time to call them and ask them for their business.

Have you ever had a successful Doctor or lawyer coming to your door or calling on the phone asking for your business? In fact, the best ones are difficult to get a hold of.

Honestly, I would be leary of anyone who came to my door asking to service my car or manage my finances etc.

If positioning is important, and I believe it is, cold calling puts you in a weak position. Again, cold-called prospects know that you want and need their business. You are also saying that there is not a big demand for your product and or service. Never a great place to be.

I'm going to say it:

You are being NEEDY and DESPERATE!

Your prospects think you can't be very good at what you are doing. Otherwise your schedule would be booked and you would not have the time to chase after them on the phone.

How to give up cold calling for good

On the other hand, when they call you, you are positioned to have the solution to a problem they have. They need what you have or can offer to them!

Now, that is a much different dynamic for both of you! Your value to them has increased dramatically.

Renegade University adheres to the "Silver Rule of Marketing"and it will help you give up cold calling. Instead of positioning yourself as someone who is needy the tables are turned and you now have something they want - a solution to their problem. You hold alot of value and will generate more prospects. You really owe yourself a free tour of the Renegade University. You won't ever look back!
