Why You Need a Lead Capture Page in Your Attraction Marketing Business
Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 10:56AM When I first got started with my attraction marketing business, I really had no idea what a lead capture page was much less did I know how to create one. I know very little about html just enough to make me a bit dangerous! So I participated in a training that taught the basics of creating your own using a simple tool that really is a business in a box.
Let's start at the very beginning. What is the purpose of a lead capture page?
If you think back to the process of generating online business leads using the old methods of network marketing, prospecting anyone and everyone, your lead capture page takes the place of this inefficient activity. The main functions of the lead capture page are:
- It advertises you, your product or your business
- It sifts out the people who are tire kickers who are not interested in moving forward
- It gets your prospect to take an action, opting-in to your list with the promise of a "bribe"
- It moves your prospect to your next page, usually a "sales page"
- It gives your reader a sense of who you are and what you have to offer
It is similar to traditional prospecting. The big difference is that the lead capture page makes it possible for you to avoid rejection. In addition, it takes the place of having to go through lots of looky loos without the time investment. It functions like a big filter for your business. Your potential prospects self select. They are either in or out. Your autoresponder then proceeds to offer value and builds trust so they are more likely to become your customer.
The components of the lead capture page are (Keep in mind there are variations on this):
- Preamble Headline - qualifies the reader while filtering out people who don't belong there. This is not always necessary.
- Headline - makes or breaks your capture page, sums it up. Remember you only have 3 seconds to get the attention of your reader. You must invoke curiosity so your reader will want to read the rest. Here it is important to identify the main benefit that you will provide your reader.
- Sub-Headline - builds on the headline giving your visitor more details. Tells them what action you desire them to take. Be sure to use pleasure or pain to further entice them along your sales funnel.
- Bullets - 3-5 benefits (not features) that your visitor can expect to get if they opt in. Most people operate from WIIFM (what's in it for me). If you offer them something they really want they will gladly give their contact info.
- Bribe - is where you give something of value away to entice your prospect to give you their contact info. It must be relevant and desirable to your audience
- Opt-in Box - gathers contact information of your potential prospect in exchange for your bribe. At minimum get name and email addresses. Keep in mind the more info you get the higher quality lead you'll get. You'll also get fewer opt ins. This is your 'List'.
Another important aspect of lead capture pages is the ability to test different versions of your page for improved conversions. This is why I love IMP. It gives you all you need to build your list including templates for lead capture pages and sales pages, headline generators, autoresponders, split testing, traffic tracking, blogs etc. It really is an all inclusive business in a box. PLUS, it has Mike Dillard's blessing!
Since most Network marketing companies do not provide you with your own lead capture page templates, building your own will be an invaluable tool to market your business, your product(s) etc. As you can see, I am using mine to brand myself as a Rogue Dietitian which invokes much curiosity.
Branding yourself will set you apart from the rest of your competitors. This is sorely lacking in the Network Marketing Industry.
